Last year, the H5N1 strain of avian influenza has spread to 55 countries. Dr. Ramaz Mitaishvili led RMGH delegation to the International Conference “Adult Infectious Diseases in the Outpatient and Inpatient Settings” in Beverly Hills, CA, USA.
Delegation also included Dr. Raymond Forbes, Dr. Melissa Hall, Dr. Blanca Lamar, Dr. Francisco Letcher, and Dr. Joaquin Garcia Salazar.
Prior to the conference, the RMGH Delegation chaired a meeting to coordinate objectives for the conference, the purpose of which was to continue worldwide political focus and action on the threat of pandemic influenza, to raise new money, and to demonstrate that donors, including the RMGH, are meeting their previous funding commitments.
18 countries were represented in Beverly Hills conference. RMGH and other companies made new pledge, approximately 57 million dollars.
In his keynote address, Dr. Ramaz Mitaishvili, president of RM Global Health, discussed the rapid expansion of outbreaks of the H5N1 virus in recent years, and possibility of bioterrorism from conflict zones.
At the end of the Conference, delegates approved by consensus the RMGH declaration.
