Program Objectives
This is an introductory course on Intraoperative Echocardiography. At the end of the course the participant should be able to understand:
- The basic physics of ultrasound;
- The technical operation of the echocardiography machine;
- The components of a complete transesophageal examination and the corresponding anatomical views;
- The pathophysiology of valvular heart disease and its intraoperative assessment.

Speakers’ abstracts will be available for downloading from ASA’s Web site two weeks before the meeting.
Registrants will receive the address of the site and password to allow them to access the abstracts.
