HHS Team Goes Ashore with Mission of the USS Peleliu in Papua New Guinea

August 10, 2007 – The USS Peleliu arrived in Madang, Papua New Guinea, on August 7, 2007, as the ship continued its humanitarian mission in the Pacific.

The current detachment of HHS U.S. Public Health Service Commissioned Corps officers aboard the Peleliu includes two physicians, one physician assistant, three environmental health officers, two environmental engineers, and one pharmacist. The HHS team is going ashore in Bunabun, Madang, to provide clinical care and to work on Modilon Hospital's disaster and safety plans.
