A paramedical examination is a personal interview with the applicant to collect information about the applicant’s medical history. This information allows the insurance company to perform a comprehensive evaluation of the applicant’s current health. A paramedical exam usually includes the collection of blood, urine and/or oral fluid. The exam may also include recording of height, weight, blood pressure, pulse and an EKG or x-ray, depending on the insurer’s underwriting guidelines for the applicant’s age and insurance amount.
